Yesterday was February 14th.
It was Valentine's Day for some, but for me it was just February 14th.
I don't know if it's the fact that we don't have anyone to watch the girls, or if it's the fact that we're not in America and therefore haven't had to see hearts everyday for the past month, but something has managed to make Valentine's Day unimportant.
February 14th on the other hand, was very important, but not because it was Valentine's day. February 14th was important because we did something out of the ordinary to make Charlie and Sierra very happy. On Thursday just before school, Charlie looked at me and said, "Mom, can I have some friends come over on Saturday?" "Which ones?" I asked. "All of them." At first I thought, this little girl is crazy, but Charlie is a great kid who has been extremely well behaved lately. So, after getting the okay from the hubby, I sent an email to a bunch of moms I know, and we had a party. Not for any special reason... just because. And it was awesome. There were about 20kids, 10parents, food, drinks and a bunch of toys.
It was February 14th and Valentine's Day was nowhere in sight- but my girls had a ball which is what I live for. Plus our house survived, which is icing on the cake!!

Sounds like you had a fun V-Day. V-Day is about spending some QT with the ones you love whether it is a significant other, friend, relative and showing them how much you care. It seems like you achieved that with the party for your girls and their friends!!!!! :-)
We echo Erin's comments. You and Marcus could have denied Charlie a very happy V-day with her friends but being the type of parents you both are you let her enjoy the day. And I suspect that V-day became important to you after all.
Love Mom/Dad
@ Erin- you're right, and it was a fun day! Thanks!
